1917年：宝马标志诞生。

宝马的前身是拉普飞机发动机制造公司(当时位于德国慕尼黑)。这家发动机厂成立于1913年，主要生产飞机用V12发动机。19宝马汽车标志17年2月，来自戴姆勒发动机厂的天才工程师马克斯费利泽(Max Felize)加入拉普飞机发动机公司，成功研制出性能优异的直列六缸飞机发动机。由于费利泽设计的这款发动机获得了巨大成功，拉普飞机发动机厂这个并不怎么出名的公司很快就被重组了。与此同时，公司合伙人决定将公司名称变更为巴伐利亚发动机制造有限公司()，简称宝马的新公司名称现为中国的“宝马”。

虽然更改了公司名称，但Rapp公司的名称和logo仍然出现在之前公司的信笺上。因此，为了体现全新的名称，公司决定重新设计一个标志。由于宝马公司是由RAPP公司重组而来，新标志的设计特意采用了与拉普公司标志及其字母排列相似的风格。最后，这个新logo继续沿用了Rapp logo的内外双圆形设计，同样的黑色外环，并将“Rapp”替换为“BMW”。内环图案改为用蓝白色调的四个扇区填满整个圆圈，图案中的蓝白色调取自蓝白相间的巴伐利亚国旗。

值得一提的是，图片中的宝马logo只能算是宝马在那个历史时期的logo“模板”。虽然宝马印刷品上使用的logo与其一致，但摩托车和汽车上发现的宝马logo与其不同。最明显的地方是，印有“蓝天白云”的小圆圈，有一条“十字”金线，与内外双圈和字母同色。您可以使用此功能来区分徽标的用途。

宝马标志的第一个“在路上”

在宝马新logo设计出来后的四年里，这个logo只出现在宝马内部的印刷文件中。直到5年后的1923年，它才出现在第一辆R32型号的宝马摩托车车身上。这也是人们第一次在路上看到这个全新的宝马标志。

1929年，宝马公司推出了第一款汽车，型号为。虽然这是第一款带有宝马标志的车，但实际上这款车只是英国奥斯汀汽车公司授权给宝马的，并不是宝马自己研发设计的。现在看来，只是一辆“贴牌”的宝马。
